About Annapurna
Named after the Hindu goddess of food and nourishment, our Annapurna program was started with a simple belief: no one should go to bed hungry. What began as a small initiative to feed homeless people has grown into a comprehensive food security program.
Our Approach
Community Kitchens
We operate 5 community kitchens that serve hot, nutritious meals to over 1,500 people daily. Our kitchens are:
- Operated by local women's self-help groups
- Using locally sourced, fresh ingredients
- Following strict hygiene standards
- Open to anyone in need, no questions asked
Monthly Grocery Distribution
We distribute grocery kits to 500 families every month, containing:
- Rice, dal, and essential grains
- Cooking oil and spices
- Nutritional supplements for children
Special Programs
- School Nutrition: Mid-day meals for children in government schools
- Elderly Care: Home delivery of meals to senior citizens
- Festival Meals: Special meal distribution during festivals
